More than a custodian bank.

You probably don't need us to tell you what independent asset management involves. However, we would like to explain how our team at InsingerGilissen Services works, with clearly defined roles for both parties at all times. You can focus fully on your clients and their assets, while we take care of the rest. This means you decide the investment policy, while we handle supporting services, such as securities administration, reports and order execution. And that's not all.

If you as independent asset manager opt for InsingerGilissen Services, you get more than just a custodian bank.

We offer:

AFM registration
Asset-related services call for quality, integrity and professionalism. This is why we only work with independent asset managers who have a licence issued by the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM). If you don't yet have one, we can help you obtain your AFM licence.

Starting out as an independent asset manager?

Before you start, there are probably a few matters you need to consider. Did you know that aspiring managers need to have sufficient proof they can lead and manage a company? We can help answer all your questions about the required criteria and legislation. Moreover, we have an extensive network of specialists to assist you in applying for your AFM licence.

Licence applications for independent asset managers
Applying for an AFM licence can be time-consuming and expensive. We have assisted a large number of new asset managers over the years and the AFM considers us a reliable partner. You will be given a standard point of contact at InsingerGilissen Services from the start. This personal consultant does more than simply collaborate with you. He or she also helps to speed up the application process and updates you on the current status of your application. We strive to obtain your licence in under thirteen weeks.

What does an independent asset manager need?
Do you have everything you need to be an independent asset manager? It's not a question you can easily answer. You are probably aware that the AFM requires a number of criteria to be met before granting a licence (Section 2:96, Financial Supervision Act). But what does this mean for you?

The checklist below can help you discover whether you meet all these criteria.

  • Do you have a business partner?
  • Do you and your business partner have investment experience in keeping with the securities services you plan on offering?
  • Do you and your business partner have at least two years' managerial experience and possess relevant skills?
  • Are you certain there is no reason to believe the AFM would consider you to be unreliable or unsuitable?
  • Do you have a written business plan?
  • Do you have a plan for accounting and internal controls systems?

If you've answered 'yes' to all these questions, you can submit your application to the AFM. Be aware that we can also serve as your partner in the role of custodian bank.

If you don't yet meet all these criteria, you can still contact us for advice with no strings attached.

Are you an asset manager client?

You have enlisted the services of an independent asset manager affiliated with InsingerGilissen Services. How does that work? And who does what for you?

Your asset manager manages your assets and is your point of contact for everything related to your assets. Because your asset manager does not have a banking licence, he or she uses InsingerGilissen Services as a custodian bank. InsingerGilissen Services has been a reliable and solid bank for asset managers for more than 25 years.

What does InsingerGilissen Services do for you?
We administrate your assets. This means that your account – both securities and cash deposits – is held at our bank. In addition, we handle both the execution and settlement of your securities transactions when your asset manager issues us with instructions on your behalf. We also offer additional banking services, such as loans and deposits.

In addition, you will be able to view your investment portfolio in Mijn InsingerGilissen, a personalised online environment. This means you can monitor your portfolio's performance, view all credit and debit amounts, buy and sell transactions, dividends and coupons on a daily basis. The account also gives you access to your statements, buy and sell invoices, information on any margin requirements and an annual fiscal and asset overview.

How much does this cost?
Our fees are in keeping with the going market rate. Your asset manager can provide information on the fees for the individual services.
